The famous Nubra region lies between the Ladakh Range and the Karakoram Range towards north of Leh. The hyped Khardung La, supposedly the highest motorable pass of the world with an altitude of 18,380 ft (5,602m), lays 39kms from Leh and is the passage towards Nubra after crossing the Ladakh Range.
Nubra consists of all kinds of terrain from green patches to rocky slopes and even desert areas. You may also find Bactrian double humped camels, strolling over the sand dunes. Villages of Nubra, including Diskit, Hundar, Sumur, Turtuk and Panamik, mark green oasis amid bleak rawness of arid mountains.
